Wurzburger Beers are the product of the finest beer producing region in the world - Bavaria. Bavaria is the region of Southern Germany which is famous for it's culture, cuisine, and brewing. Nestled in the heart of Northern Bavaria in the region of Franconia, is the city of Wurzburg. Wurzburg was Christianized in the seventh century by the Irish missionary, St. Killian. By the eleventh century the missionary-monks had become the Prince-bishops of this city. The right of brewing beer was their prerogative, which was, in turn granted to the monasteries. The St. Killian monks were the first brewers of, "The Brew of the King's house."

The Brewery:

• The first official brewery was established by Prince-bishop Johann Phillip von Schonborn in 1643, and was called Wurzburger Hofbrau A.G
• In 1863 the brewery was passed from the Bavarian Crown to a private brewer, Matthaus Max.
• In 1867, Wurzburger Hofbrau was being served on draft at "Luchow's" in New York city.
• Interrupted by Prohibition and the two World Wars, Wurzburger returned to the U.S.A. in 1950.
• April 1983, Wurzburger Beer is imported by St. Killian Importing, Inc.

The legendary Wurzburger brew:

• Pure artesian well water;
• Wurzburger's own carefully produced roasted barley malt;
• The finest hops in the world, Bavarian hops, (Hallertau), to provide the characteristic German tanginess;
• And yeast.

All ingredients are 100% natural. German beer, therefore is a truly natural product - water, barely malt, hops, and yeast. Natural by definition, and pure by lore and law. The highest of quality is demanded by the centuries old Bavarian Purity Standard (of 1516).
